nope - not one. when i was a true believer, i would have said that the love and unity in the congregation were wonderful, but once i was not going out in field service, i started to see how the love and friendship wre actually conditional and how easily my "friends" could just ignore me.

Here i feel heard ..
by Dudu ini have this situation with my active jw friends and nobody else but you guys can clearly understand... my friends are very zealous jw coz i was one of them when i started fading... most of them live out of country or few hours away from me, they dont know im fading they dont know i have a worldly boyfriend, they dont know i havent attend a meeting since 6 months ago .... some are calling , as usual and honestly i dont wanna talk to them, not because they arent nice, but because i feel like a double faced person and i dont know ..... at the same time that doesnt help with my fading coz some of them will be really concern and will start asking around to know how im really doing :s should i just be honest and stop this charade?.

I understand how you are feeling, but you will never be happy until you can be honest about who you are. As long as you have to pretend you believe something to keep friends, you will feel the stress of dishonesty.

Hi - I'm new here!
by Flicka ini have been lurking on this site for the past 2 months.
for the past few years i have been going to the meetings and doing fieldservice out of guilt.. my husband (twisty) told me regularly i only do it out of guilt but i denied it and said it i want to do these things because i love jehovah and it is the right thing to do, but how can it be the right thing if you don't feel welcome and it feels like everyone is judging you the moment you walk into the kingdom hall.. it has taken a few years and a lot of tears to open my eyes.. over the past few years twisty spoke to me about the various things he didn't agree with but it just went over my head.
a few months ago we were lying in bed and he brought up his concerns again, and i'm not sure what was different this time but i understood and agreed with the points he was making.

Am I still an Ex JW?
by darthfader ini was thinking the other day about being an ex jehovahs witness... will i always be an ex jw?
will i know when im no longer an ex jw?
what can i do to become less of an ex jw and more of a normal person (whatever that is)... for me, being a jw was a little like a cross between the firm and hotel california where i feel like, at any point, one of the friends will spot me and either accost me or report me to the elders.

I've been wondering this myself. My escape from the Kindom Hall came suddenly - I hadn't really given any concious thought to anything beyond refusing to go out in service. Then all of a sudden, a bunch of stuff happened and I took the risk of being honest with my husband and here we are - out and not sure what to do with ourselves. From reading the experiences here, I realize how much worse it could have gone for me, and what may still happen in the future. I guess when I no longer worry about how to handle running into people at the grocery store, or worry about my kids social and emotional development I'll count myself as an ex-ex JW

Kingdom Hall Libraries just for beating kids.....isn't this Child abuse?
by Witness 007 inyeah no "sunday school" for our kids because it's too "christendom" for us, so our 5 year old's need to sit thru watchtowers on masturbation etc.. when they get bored or wriggle too much.....out to the library!!!!
is it child abuse to force kids to sit thru an adult meeting for 2 hours...and beat them when they can't?.

In my experience, the most intolerant elder did actually have two children himself. The elder who had no kids was totally tolerant of baby/little kid behavior. I think that elder with kids must have beaten his kids into submission early on, or they just were never inclined to be restless or disruptive. Those kids were already over age 10 before I started attending meetings.

I haven't had any porn pop-ups or porn sites in my search results in a long time. Pop-up blockers and moderate safe search settings (which are enabled by default) block the vast majority of those things. however, depending on what sites you are visiting, the banner ads can be heavily tilted toward "meet hot singles in your town" type things. of course, if you've turned off safe search, almost anything you google will return at least least a few porn hits.

there are a number of sites that offer free porn and don't load your computer up with viruses. i'd wager that any sort of kink you are looking for can be found for free with a simple google search.

The Real Purpose of Shunning Holidays
by metatron inthe watchtower endlessly prates on about pagan traditions in popular holidays - while the bible itself is loaded with subtle pagan religious ideas - such as wicked spirits being cast "into tartarus" (a pagan greek place in which the rebels against zeus got imprisoned) or "sacred secret" - a term the apostle paul likes that was adopted from pagan 'mystery' religions.. then we can throw in the reference to being divinely 'called christians' in acts - which uses a pagan term that refers to demonic oracles of the day.. of course, the watchtower has no objection to accumulating millions of pieces of paper that feature occult symbols (any dollar bill!).
in recent years, for good measure, they have added birthdays and thanksgiving to the official banned list, despite the sketchiest justification for doing so.
if birthdays are wrong simply because they figure in two negative accounts, then it makes much more sense to ban dogs as pets because of all the negativity in the bible about them!.

pagans got married, ate dinner, bathed, had jobs.....there's not much left if you eliminate all the things pagans used to do

Weeds and Jimmy Buffet. I could never exorcise the deadhead hippy in me, no matter how hard I study the Watch Tower. And no, I'm not old enough to remember any of that stuff when it was new.
